USYCA has received a generous donation in the amount of $500 from
USACA Treasurer John Thickett and his wife, Sue. In making this
commitment, Thickett expressed his belief that the mission of USYCA is
central to the ultimate success of cricket in the United States.
"Sue and I are excited to support youth cricket initiatives,"
Thickett said. "Youth development is the cornerstone for the USA's
future success in all forms of international competition. Ingraining
cricket as a regular sport in our country's school systems will help to
grow the domestic market and future generations of players and fans."
USYCA President Jamie Harrison is grateful for the Thicketts' gift, and for the leadership it represents.
"USYCA is honored to be the recipients of this wonderful contribution
to the future of youth cricket in America," Harrison said. "John is to
be commended for his willingness to take concrete action that will
result in more children playing cricket in the United States. His gift
demonstrates great vision on his part, and we are proud to have him on
the USYCA team."
Besides his work as USACA Treasurer, Thickett, of Austin, Texas, has
been actively involved in local cricket at the club, league and
regional level for over twelve years with the Central Texas Cricket
League and USACA's Central West region.
