Bolingbrook Cricket League Becomes USYCA Member

March 7, 2011

USYCA happily welcomes its newest member, the Bolingbrook Cricket League.

The BCL is a community based non-profit organization located in a diverse and picturesque village in the Chicago suburbs, and its award-winning Park District contains two excellent cricket grounds. Their volunteer youth program, which emphasizes strong character and a positive environment, is just one example of the ways BCL gives back to the community.

The youth program, a member of the Bolingbrook Athletic Council, is offered at only $20 per child for the season and enrolls children from the ages of 6-18. This program, which is just another example of how cricket is expanding in American society, attracted over 65 children in 2010 and continues to grow. Its coaching staff is fully trained to deal with youths through league-provided training and the league provides all necessary equipment and drinking water as well.

"The BCL is proud to become an associate member of the USYCA and to be able to provide this type of a youth program," said Mir Ali, President of the Bolingbrook Cricket League.

The Bolingbrook community is also proud to launch their new adult league, the Bolingbrook Premier League (BPL), which is taking cricket to another level. "By exposing our youngsters to cricket at a very young age we now have created the BPL, so they can continue their passion for cricket and at the same time it ensure that the sport is in good hands when we depart," Ali said.

"The addition of the Bolingbrook Cricket League to the USYCA team is very exciting news, and we couldn't be more excited," Jamie Harrison, USYCA President said. "To have an organization of the caliber of BCL working with us in the Chicago area will mean great things for youth cricket there."
