West Haven CC Makes Commitment For Annual Support

The West Haven Cricket Club, a member of the Southern Connecticut Cricket Association, has pledged an annual donation to USYCA of $250, continuing its strong support for youth cricket. The announcement was made in honor of National Youth Cricket Day, which will be celebrated tomorrow, March 24.

"West Haven Cricket Club truly believes that the only way cricket in USA could flourish is by developing it bottom-up from the grassroots level," said WHCC President Rakesh Kallem. "USYCA has been instrumental and committed in promoting youth cricket and as their member, we have been able to introduce cricket to more than 20 schools in Connecticut in 2011," Kallem said.

"We'll continue to work with USYCA for years to come to solidifying the foundation of cricket and do our part in developing cricket as competitive sport in the country," said Kallem.

For 2012 season, WHCC has developed a youth program, where professional training will be provided to children who are interested in the game. The program will start in April, and based on the turn-around, WHCC will be conducting sessions each month through the end of September. WHCC has also laid out a roadmap for the next five years for developing a strong youth program. Details will be published on the club's website (www.whcricketclub.com) soon.
