On Friday, June 18, Jamie traveled to Camp Hidden Meadows at Bartow, West Virginia to instruct the staff there and to give them their donated cricket set. The camp hosts hundreds of children each summer and will now be adding cricket to their camp activities.
The staff picked the game up quickly and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Tom Bryant, the camp director, was also given souvenir bookmarks for the campers, who will be directed toward the USYCA for more information about getting cricket in their schools back home. One of the camp counselors, Abby, is a teacher in Ohio and has already expressed a desire to have cricket in her school!
Tom, his assistant Amanda and the staff were gracious hosts, with the camp supplying meals and lodging. After dinner, the staff organized their own game of pick-up cricket, and then Jamie and his family spent the night in one of the camp's comfortable cabins before returning home on Saturday morning.
It was truly a wonderful weekend in West Virginia!
