Michael Young, who has served as fielding coach for the Indian Premier League’s Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab, plus both the Australian and South African national cricket teams, and is the only American in international cricket, conducted a free youth cricket coaching clinic on August 26 at Raider's Edge indoor facility in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The clinic was co-sponsored by the United States Youth Cricket Association and the Germantown Kids Cricket Club.
After observing the players and their coaches during drills, Young provided practical advice and led the attendees through a number of fielding drills. Afterward, he spoke to the players and coaches in small groups, shared stories from his time in international cricket and fielded questions. Mike also took the time to sign autographs and pose for photos.
