The following has been received from USYCA Affiliate Member Missouri Youth Cricket Association:
On October 5, the Missouri Youth Cricket Association (MYCA) conducted its 2nd cricket camp at a Girl Scouts event, at Camp Cedarledge in Pevely, MO. This time there were about 3000 girls at this event and we got an opportunity to introduce cricket to about couple thousand girls and volunteers. We had continuous cricket clinics from 11:30 AM to 6:30 PM without a break and we were able to reach out to many young potential cricket players along with school teachers, parents, community leaders and event coordinators. Rain or shine, we had 7 hours of non-stop cricket going. Many girls came back to try again.
Our objective of promoting youth cricket at this event was quite successful as we were able to spread the awareness about cricket and give them an opportunity to consider taking up this sport. We believe due to this awareness, we might get invitations in near future from school PE teachers and community groups who might consider introducing cricket to their groups.
Missouri YCA is thankful to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri for inviting us and allowing us to introduce the wonderful game of cricket to their troops.
MYCA volunteers at this event were: Ritu Singh (MYCA Academy Player), Yuvraj Singh (MYCA Academy Player), Ranjeet Singh (MYCA Coach & Secretary) and Priya Singh (MYCA President).
