Indiana Physical Education Teachers Unveil Statewide Cricket Guidelines

The Indiana Youth Cricket Association has been actively involved in school and youth cricket in Indiana since 2010. Later, it established "Basics of Cricket" and "Introduction to Cricket" certifications for Indiana Physical Education teachers, which is now available online. Recently, IYCA rolled out a statewide Cricket Study Guide that includes a cricket glossary, which will help teachers to follow the statewide cricket curriculum.

To the novice, cricket can seem a complicated sport, and Internet instructional guidelines, rather than being helpful, often pose challenges for those that are not knowledgeable about the game. It now seems appropriate to set standards pertaining to the game, both to help educate our teachers and so that everyone can be following the same guidelines. The main objective is to reach as many schools as feasible, to provide the necessary information required to play the game, and to educate our teachers.

Jatin Patel, President IYCA and 2nd Vice President USYCA, has pioneered cricket education for schools and communities in Indiana. Quite a few teachers have reached out and provided assistance by rewriting, in American English, this helpful and easy to use Cricket Study Guide for use within their schools.

It would have been impossible to accomplish such a goal without the following teachers. All of them were introduced to cricket during the past two years and have become Indiana Certified Cricket Coaches. We applaud them, graciously.

Many Indiana teachers will also be a part of finalizing a T10 inter-school cricket game rules. Indiana Inter-school T10 Cricket will focus on "Equal Opportunity for All Players" and the "No One Left Behind" school policy, which will create a fun environment with the same high intensity level in an abbreviated time of 90 minutes or less for the entire game. IYCA plan to host inaugural Indiana inter-school T10 Cricket tournaments with an official state championship during the 2015 spring/summer season.
