On Nov. 14, USYCA President Jamie Harrison spoke to a gathering of Virginia Physical Education teachers at the VAPHERD annual convention in Reston, Virginia. Harrison described the resurgence of cricket in the United States and the award-winning USYCA Schools Program, which is made available at no cost to American schools.
Cricket is spreading rapidly in Virginia schools, and has already been introduced in Fairfax, Portsmouth and Frederick counties, along with a number of other schools. On Friday, this market penetration seemed certain to increase as a number of additonal counties expressed a desire to start cricket programs of their own, including the populous Loudoun County school system, in Northern Virginia.
