USYCA Acquires Venue For National Youth Cricket Tournaments

USYCA Foxfire Field, one of the nation's best cricket grounds, has been leased by America's national youth cricket organization at a cost of only $1 per year and will now become home to countless youth cricket tournaments.

Centrally located 20 miles south of Wichita, Kansas, USYCA Foxfire Field was the vision of USYCA 1st Vice-President Edward Fox, who personally funded construction at a total cost of over $120,000.

The ground boasts a Bermuda sod infield, artificial turf pitch, batting nets and wood boundary posts. The 30' x 50' pavilion is heated and air-conditioned and can sleep twelve, with two bathrooms, a shower, 54" television and refrigerator. Plans will soon be developed that will eventually lead to a turf pitch at USYCA Foxfire Field.

"Cricket has been a passion for me from an early age," Fox said. "The field came about because once I saw the enjoyment on the children's faces when I was teaching cricket in schools around Wichita, I just knew we needed to have a field to play on.

"By leasing Foxfire Field to United States Youth Cricket, they now have a central location for which to hold a national schools championship each year," said Fox. "I personally wanted to give something back to the game that has given me a lifetime of enjoyment. USYCA is on a mission to share cricket with American kids and I wanted to show my strong support for that."

"USYCA is incredibly fortunate to have Edward Fox as one of its leaders," President Jamie Harrison said. "Edward's generosity and dedication to cricket is well-established, and by leasing Foxfire Field to USYCA, he has created an extraordinary opportunity for youth cricket in America.

"By further developing USYCA Foxfire Field and making it a premier destination for youth cricket teams and tournaments, we will make Haysville, Kansas the Williamsport, Pennsylvania of cricket," Harrison said.

Earlier this year, Fox donated 24 Hot Shot Cricket sets to USYCA for use in its Schools Program.
